So, I learned that Brittany is being recruited by another salon. Apparently they are sending her messages from people that Brittany doesn’t even know. She was at the grocery and a woman came up to her and said “Are you Brittany from Rhonda’s Hair Studio?” Brit said “yes?” the woman then proceeded to tell her that ********** from **********salon would love to have you work for her. Brittany said “there is no way I would ever work there and you are welcome to tell her to call me if you want and I will tell her the same thing.” See, the thing about our salon is I am very loyal to my stylists and would do just about anything for them and hopefully they would do the same for me. Does Brittany ever make me crazy? Of course! Spend 40 hours a week with anyone and at some point you are going to make each other crazy. However, would I jump down a stair case and practically run down a busy street to get to her when she gets in a car crash? I did! She makes me nuts sometimes but so do my kids. I try my best to make sure all of the people that work here know that they are the most important part of this business. We have to have rules and there are consequences when someone breaks a rule but we all for the most part get along really well. Especially for a salon. I have worked in many, many salons and most of them were so filled with drama that it got to be unbearable. I go out of my way to try to make sure most of the drama and negativity stays out of our salon. Everyone should come to work knowing that no matter what is going on they do not have to work in an environment that is negative and makes them miserable. We spend way too much time at work to have to deal with that. Even when we are upset with each other I expect that everyone treats everyone else with respect and I do not allow anyone to try to grow negativity. Negativity is like a virus- if you don’t treat it as soon as it starts it will grow and effect everyone around. So my point is that I think that any salon that starts recruiting another salon’s stylists should look and see what they are doing to try to keep the stylists that they already have. I have never actively tried to recruit a stylist from another salon. If they come to us that is a different story but I do not need to try to get a stylist to leave the salon that they are working in. I feel that is wrong. If they are not happy and go looking then that is a different situation. Anyway, thank you again for letting me vent my frustrations on all of this salon stuff. I feel like everything seems really drama filled lately and I hope that things calm down soon. But until then thank you all very much for your support and understanding. Have a great weekend to all of our great client friends and all of my stylist friends!!!!!
